Today's viewers ask, "Where is the cell phone?"

Dateline, America

Today, viewers of classic TV shows such as The Rockford Files ask, "Where is the cell phone?". During many of the episodes, Jim Rockford needs to call someone to save them. Rather than waiting to find a pay phone, viewers ask why he didn't just use a cell phone. The same is true of the classic show Perry Mason. In multiple episodes, Perry had to send detectives to find his clients because they were out of town. He could have just called them on his cell phone. And this list goes on and on. I ask you, why didn't they just take the phone out of their pocket and call? For that matter, why did James Rockford have an answering machine?   Every show would start off with his answering machine. Was he that out dated and cheap? After all, mostplans offer voicemail for free.

After watching an episode of The Rockford Files, local real estate agent, Alice Stumps, asked, "Why is James Rockford living in such a broken down mobile home... Having his trailer located on million dollar beach property, you would think he'd just get a simple mortgage and upgrade that trailer."

I guess it all comes from TV show writers just being out of touch.
